He has some good songs, but I like enjoy alot of the classics as well.

Not really, I don't enjoy it as much as Biggie, but yes it's pretty good.

Biggie was like a figure for all the NY rappers after him; Nas, Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, etc.
I don't think they would be where they are today had they not been influence by Biggie's work imo
But I don't live in NY so I don't really know what's the opinion up there( I'm in ATL btw)
