It is my opinion that

Retract PM
Sometimes you send a PM to the wrong person or accidentally send it twice. That is why you should be able to retract said pm.

***Not part of the actual suggestion, but a cute little guy none the less***

Post Preview
Sometimes you post a link and it is a poor link, therefor you should be able to hit a preview button to see if it worked. Also sometimes you miss words in a post and the ability to preview would point this out. Not to mention you would avoid being ostracized by a usually quite bitter Posting Community.

Should be implemented eventually

Post preview, sure, along with a billion other forum upgrades that everyone would appreciate.

Retract PM, I don't really see the point.

Sometimes I'd like to be able to retract PMs, especially during recruting time.

I mean, I guess I just don't get it. Does it only retract if it hasn't been read?

Obviously, there are higher priorities, but I hope the fact that it's not at the top of list of needed additions doesn't stop this from being seen by Bort, DD, Thorn, etc.

Retract: Maybe within 5 minutes of sending, and only if it's not read. Would cause...complications otherwise. If you're that worried about the content of your PM then make sure you send it to the right person. I've sent a lot of PMs and can't remember once sending it to the wrong person.

Preview: Just edit the post. Not a big deal.

Yes. Most e-mail clients offer this sort of thing. It allows you to be able to retract things that you may have thought better of...or that were sent to the wrong person.

I think it's great that you've never sent a PM to the wrong person, but I know I have done it a few times, and I know many others who have done it several times, as well. Some of us are more human than others, and I think the ability to retract a PM would be a nice addition. Besides, in my outbox, I have over 30 PMs that no one ever bothered reading, and what I said back then certainly isn't relevant now. I wish I could retract those PMs the most.

As for the preview/editing thing, I agree that it's not a 'big deal', but a lot of us have unknowingly posted broken links at some time or another. Yeah, I can edit the post and say 'sorry, the link didn't work', but things would be a bit better if we didn't have to waste the space on the server.
