Since my last interview I have received some unwanted ‘attention’ from members of the psychos support. In short, piss on my car all you want you’re still nuts. I chose to meet the Maniac in his home. I soon found the bridge under 42nd street and was, to put it lightly, disturbed. In short, I’m never going to the circus again; I’ve had my fill of clowns.
ME: So as most fans are wondering, why are you the maniac and what's up with the clown costume?
Wayniac: (Grins mischievously) Well I was given the maniac Moniker back from when I was in college after a taking a few too many pills I was sent to an asylum for a year until I was ready to make my return. As for the clown costume, an older gentleman who I became close to inside the asylum used to wear it and he ended up jumping (grins again) off the roof so I vowed never to take it off after that day!!
ME: Umm is that his blood still on it?
Wayniac: Yes it had never been washed or touched by another human - I would have to kill them immediately. I think that’s why I have good luck getting in the end zone; no-one wants to touch me... or maybe they just can’t catch me.
ME: It really has been a great season for you, was that all you or has the team contributed?
Wayniac: No not at all, my team mates have contributed far beyond my expectations. I may be a glory hog (laughs) but I know my place. We have the greatest backfield I have ever seen. My other running mates are challenging me to play even better, it’s like a competition we have going. And our defence has been amazing, giving up less than 6 points a game. We don’t even have to score with them on the field.
ME: What has been your highlight of the season so far?
Wayniac: I would say my first game here they really didn’t know what to expect and I wanted to show them they made the right choice picking up "The Maniac". I came in and had an impressive 2 TD game as the backup and immediately got pushed into the starting role, so that has been the highlight so far for me. But maybe we can change that today after the game with the Dirtybirds I’m GOING to be on that highlight reel!!
ME: I wouldn't bet against that. Which players on the opposing teams have impressed you the most? Who gave you the biggest hit or who shut you down all day?
Wayniac: Wow, the Dirtybirds are full of talented players but I’m gonna be on the look out for Bob Sanders. I heard he hits like a Mack Truck!! And as of yet, I haven’t been shutdown. I’m waiting to see if there is a defence capable of shutting down Wayniac "The Maniac". We have (stares at hands) …10 more games to find out.... (Evil Laugh).
ME: What do you think of the fans? Seeing as they’re all nuts I guess you feel right at home in the Coliseum?
Wayniac: This is where I should be. I finally feel at home somewhere after all these years of solitude. Our fans are the best, they can be tough on you but that just makes you want to please them more. This goes out to all my little Maniacs out there - keep running hard!!!
ME: Finally, tell me about the rumours. In practice you play linebacker and have collected several of Drew Adams’ teeth and one of his fingers?
Wayniac: HAHAHAHA Wow I didn’t know that leaked ... Drew’s a good guy. I felt ‘really’ bad, he didn’t deserve it(mutters something). I go all out in practice and sometimes get a little out of control.... but I promised him I would put them on a necklace and wear it till we bring home the championship!!! Then he can have them back if he still wants them. Good doing an interview with you, as much as you wouldn’t believe, I don’t get out that much! Peace guy,s see you in the bowl game.
