This post is all in good jest toward Mr. Bob Jenkins as he did have many long KR's against us.

Special Teams Makes it a Night to Forget for Butterfinger-Bob Jenkins!

In the lop-sided victory of the Las Vegas Super Bears over the Tasmania Devils, 52-10, defense and offense were not the only units on display. Special teams got in on the action as well. This was truly a team effort by all players on the Super Bears, as contributions were everywhere. But, for one person, kick returner Butterfinger-Bob Jenkins, the night is sure to leave a few bruises not only to his ego but also his body.

Tally Dawg gave credit to the coaching and training staff for his production on the field yesterday. "It felt good to go out there and just do what comes natural to me and get the job done. It was a complete team effort!"

When asked about one particular play, he had a different explanation. "Well...I can't explain it at all. I mean as a kicker, you here everyone talking about how kickers are the baby's of the league because we don't like to hit or be hit. I want to bring the fear of the kicker back into the hearts of those we face. That, and I think the adrenaline was rushing a bit higher than normal. Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine." For those who missed the game, the play in question was a kickoff early in the 2nd quarter, http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=1596181, in which Tally Dawg decided he would give a try at not only kicking off but also being a gunner.

Tally Pup, was a bit dishevelled when punched a 41 yard kick that took bad roll of just 1 yd for a dreaded touchback. "I put a little too much sauce on that one. I thought for sure I had it pegged at the half yard line, but it took a bad bounce and crossed the goal line. Thankfully the D forced the Devils into a 3 and out that series. But, I would have loved to have had them pinned and on their heals for that vicious group we have on D. Next time guys, I'll make sure their pinned for ya." A promise which the dreaded defense of the Super Bears would relish coming to fruition.

And it wasn't just the kickers who got their licks in. There were highlights to go all around with special teams!

Other Special Team highlights include an vastly overlooked double team of Chase Peck. Apparently his reputation is known to the Devils. The double team clogged the right hash just enough to back up the rest of the special teams unit. This prevented and reversing of the field and forced Butterfingers Jenkins to continue along the right-side and into the waiting arms of Forest Gump Jr. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=1596663

Peck showed everyone just why he is feared on special teams once again midway through the third quarter: gunning for the kick returner, he blew up the middle of the field and broke through not only the first block but a second on his way to giving Butterfingers Jenkins a taste of turf. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=1597113

At the end of the 1st half, Shamino Dupre had a vicious hit on Butterfingers Jenkins. Not only was the ball popped loose, but Jenkins had trouble locating where his helmet landed! It was a nice arm sweep at the snap that freed Dupre from the line of scrimmage and allow him to reach the punt returner untouched. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=1596808

Late in the 3rd, Bronson Minotaur made a nice save on a could have been touchdown return. Make a solid tackle right as Butterfingers Jenkins was attempting to juke and make a cut to the outside for a clean shot at the endzone. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=1597274

Midway through the 4th, Doug "46" Plank showed quickness of speed and some strength as he gunned down the field and exploded through 5 blockers as he mauled Butterfingers Jenkins on the return. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=1597558

All in all, it was a great day all around productive day for the Las Vegas Super Bears Special Teams units. It will be interesting to see these units in action next week as the team faces one of its tougher opponents of the year, the Portland Rain.
