I'm totally burned out. Hell, I didn't even change our packages out from the Jackals game so we were using week 16's plays for our first round playoff game. I'm just going to slop some shit together and hang out in PW.
I'm not even sure how many teams will promote/demote this season. There is only two feeder leagues and if they try and demote the 9-16 seed from elite in both sides (which is what they did last season) (plus promote to fill guts and CPU squads), I'm not sure that there are 16-20 teams ready to move up.
To be honest, Nat Minors should probably just be two leagues next season. Was far too much garbage in 2 and 3 this season.
I really wish they would just do away with this elite/comp/non-comp shit and spread the teams back out among the leagues, tbh. As it stands now you either play murderers row or 14 shit teams. There's no in-between.

I'm not sure how that works, but I'm guessing they'll pull the teams in the other leagues that made the playoffs over keeping the teams that didn't make the playoffs in Elite. Not exactly the best method, but we'll see what happens. The system should probably be more like the final for teams from each league, the elite teams that made the playoffs, and then choose the remaining spots via effective level. I agree that EL doesn't always mean better, but it's better than having non boosting teams in Elite.

That may be because I think there are a lot of teams dropping down.

Part of that is a product of demoting more teams than they should. I've always thought that of the WL too. You have teams go 20-0 or 19-1 in the Pro Leagues and then they just demote back after one season in the WL. Some of that is chemistry issues, some of that is just not being used to that level of competition after having a fairly easy time in Pro.
If they only demoted the bottom 6 from each league, you would still get an influx of new teams, but they would even out a lot better. If they didn't have the tiered system, could you imagine how much it would suck to be a competitive level team that was in a league with the top elite teams and never have a chance to win? Also the tiered leagues make teams more WL ready, which for some people is a good goal.
I like the elite system because it means a good quality game every week. If you aren't doing a tiered system like that, you don't actually have a proper champion for your league. Plus the teams that stay together build up a good rapport. Before they went APD, I played in the minor leagues with the same core group of guys for six or seven seasons before they split us all up in pro. I've sent a lot of dots out into the world to play for rebooted versions of those teams and a lot of people wanted to be a part of 8-bit when they heard that I was restarting The Dharma Initiatives. For people who don't want to join a network, these elite leagues are the best way to meet people who will help you recruit. When I disbanded Dharma, most of my Dharma dots ended up playing for teams whose agents I met going up through the minor league system.
Playing Pee Wee is pretty much the same thing right now. You have a light season in Silver with a couple of games a season that are tough or you play in Gold where you have a couple of games a season that are light. I'm not sure it is any more of a break to be honest than playing a season in Competitive minors.
They should just drop the non-boosters/CPUs from elite and keep everyone else regardless of whether or not they made the playoffs and promote the top teams as necessary from Comp. As it stands now, it's mostly just a revolving door between teams that are non-boosters or have weak rosters/coordinating.
I really don't think there are enough teams left to keep this elite/comp/non-comp set up. They are just punishing a bunch of teams every other season for being the best of the worst. I'm not talking about all of the teams dropping and promoting. Just most of them.

I liked it back when it was like that everywhere because of the old league set up. You had one or two teams you had to game plan for or you would definitely lose. There were a few more that if you didn't game plan for them you could be playing with fire. The rest were winnable. Had some games with a big game feel to it without getting burned out.
Now there are meh teams winning gold and great teams that don't win anything due to the league set-up. I know quite a few owners that became burned out and gave up ownership due to this current structure.

Yeah, I remember when they first started the GSB in PW. The first teams to get in got in because of the old league structure and then GLB insisted that "you had to win gold to play in gold", so there was not much movement and a lot of great teams never got in when they were playing in a Silver conference or league that had one team better than they were.
But that was when PW could support a full Gold league and eight full Silver leagues as well as an unfortunate wasteland of something like 16 copper leagues. Back when I made the suggestion that there be tiers in PW I had a much smaller crown in mind for the pyramid. One Gold League, two or four silver leagues and eight copper leagues. Bort saw demand to own teams and made too many leagues to meet the demand. We wanted player creation to drive the number of teams instead, which would mean that Pee Wee could be full of players instead of full of teams.
Well, you know what happened when they decided to go with Darkus' and Catch's versions. A glut of teams that never got to Gold and who never really had a competitive season. A gold league that only sent down eight teams a season out of 32. And a copper system that never got anyone ready to play with the silver teams when they promoted. There were Silver leagues that promoted shit teams and Silver leagues that were filled to the brim with excellent talent that only graduated one team a season.
I won a Gold trophy the first season of GSB and I didn't leave gold until five or six seasons later when I sold my team, but I think I only ever made playoffs twice in the five seasons I played in Gold. Back then, there was no coalition. There were 32 teams run by 32 people and there was no crossover between coordinators. Top teams didn't share builds or plans with anyone. Then the top gold teams got involved with Silver teams and after seven seasons there were agents in Gold who had affiliations with a quarter of the teams in the league.
What killed Pee Wee is the same thing that killed the WL: a shitty promotion system and networks.

Dub, you're so full of shit, if you think I'm gonna relax for our playoff game. Nice try tho.
