The sake was flowing yesterday after the return of DMF from the grave and many of you can still feel the lingering effects. You drag yourself out of bed, stretch, drink water, anything to try to shake off this hangover. Finally, you all dress, grab your wakizashis, and head out to audience with the Emperor. As you start to intermingle again, you notice two of you are missing: IBG and token.
First you go to IBG's place. You find him lying out front, his skulls cracked open. Only a single blow from a fine-bladed katana could make such a terrible wound. You decide to search his quarters for clues. Inside you find a few koku, notes on farming techniques, and nothing more. IBG must have been an unaligned peasant.
IBG was ashigaru
You then head to token's. You find evidence of multiple people outside his quarters and drag marks heading towards token's quarters. Inside, you find token laying on his bed, peaceful as if he were sleeping. Laid upon his chest are the daisho dual sword combination of katana and wakizashi, indicating he is a noble of samurai rank at least. He also bears a sigal ring bearing the hallmark of House Yamasu. This marks him as the noble lord. In checking out his body, you find a small wound to the back of his neck, as if from a blowgun dart.
token was Daimyo Yamasu Nobohiro
Surprised, you all return to the audience with the Emperor. The Emperor indicates that he has already received news of token's death from his noble samurai. He indicates a raised dais to the side of the Court. "There," he points, "is where as the sun sets, the noble Samurai Yamada Nagamasa will restore the honor of his family by committing seppuku, ritual suicide. A samurai who fails to protect his lord has suffered a grave dishonor and only the dedication to this ritual can cleanse the stain from Yamada's family name."
The Emperor sits back down. "But that is for later." Today, let us continue our discussions. For the happiness of the return of DMF has now been marred by the death of a Lord. All is in balance."
