tell me why you think such high strength is so beneficial? You think it's more important than slightly higher blocking and/or agility?

I think strength and agility are more important in blocking than blocking itself. Blocking will help hold the block... but strength and agility will ensure that you stay in front and don't get knocked over. Granted... you could argue that not having enough blocking can enable DE's to reverse pancake but having a high strength value can add to that as well. I'm definitely not sure on any of these things as I've never seen a high level blocking TE build... these are just my ideas/thoughts.

I'm not convinced that str+agi keep you in front if you do lose the blocking roll, but I'm not convinced you're wrong either o.O

Anyway good to get your thoughts, I know you at least go by what you see in the dot-plays instead of what you think it should be.

I'm continuing to push agility up to the 3rd cap. I may go to the 4th before moving onto speed but I'm not entirely sure just yet. I have been extremely busy with school/work so I've been unable to properly examine his blocking skills over the past season. Come winter break I'll be able to look it over some. However, he did do very well in equal competition terms where he would typically net a handful of pancakes.. but stats don't really tell the story so I'll need to watch his play on the field later.

No SA's/VA's currently.

I'm currently training carrying/confidence because I was planning on single training carrying for shopping tokens in the hopes that I would be able to 1 cap it some point in the mid season and move towards triple capping it... but with the changes to the AEQ I may end up moving back to training agi/spd since I want to get agility up just as high and I can work on speed as well. He didn't really get much love from the OC this year so his receiving stats are a little uninspiring compared to last season. However, he did do well in the blocking aspect which at least gives me some sense of security because I wanted him to be a viable option for blocking due to the effect of tagging etc.

Anyways, these are just my updates for now. I'll fill you in more after the season overchange when I can boost them and finish off certain caps.

This looks very interesting.

I wanted to try and build a possession style TE myself, and 68-capped catching and 48-capped vision in his first season.

He currently look like this:

Attributes
Physical Attributes
Strength: 18.5
Speed: 12.21
Agility: 13.21
Jumping: 9
Stamina: 12.21
Vision: 48.5
Confidence: 12.21

Football Skills
Blocking: 17.5
Catching: 83.5 (+14)
Tackling: 12.21
Throwing: 8
Carrying: 12.21
Kicking: 9
Punting: 9

He didnīt catch many passes, but then again we didnīt throw many passes either.

I had planned on getting speed and agility up yo about 48, but based on this I might just 68 cap (at least) strength first. I will be following your development with anticipation, so please keep us posted

Edit: What are your thoughts on 60-capping vision before either speed/agility or strength gets any love?

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that approach. The gains from catching/vision are much larger than speed/agility. From your build, I would start intense training either strength/carrying or speed/agility depending on which direction you want to go. You don't have to involve strength at all... plenty of pass catching TE's have not used strength as a major part of their builds and I don't see why you can't go without it... but simply follow your vision of what you want your guy to look like and you'll usually be happy with the results.

The reason I went strength is because I plan on getting carrying/agility all 68+ maybe even 74+ each in the attempt of becoming a power receiving TE. He will be targeted often in the hopes that he'll catch a pass and break a couple tackles based on his attributes. We'll see if it ends up working, I have no idea.

I will 60-cap vision and then work on agility and speed then.

Weīll see how it works out, and I will keep you updated here.

I like your approach to your receiving TE. The biggest obstacle is getting on a team willing to work your TE into the game plan. I mean they'll never burn the secondary for a TD, but the ratio of targeted / incomplete is better than WR's. Good for medium yardage & first downs.
The OC has to know that, and plug you into the depth chart @ WR4 or WR5 before you can realize how much gain you'll get from your strong receiving TE.
I have never had a TE with that kind of strength, but I have noticed that if there is a CB or SS (strength: 14) anywhere near the TE (strength: 50+) the TE goes down. -- not fair. The SIM should have them breaking more tackles or at least more yac.

Coming along, but maybe waited too long on str/block before moving on. Will see how he looks at Day 320.

My Day 440 TE also has base blocking and strength at 85-ish (strength nearly 120 with equip), but he was a bit on the slow side until Day 400.

my only thing with the receiving TE is why not pump the crap out of jumping as well? Then throw prime time player on him and make him a huge red zone threat.
